16AA is currently structured as a company-sized unit plus attachments.

Headquarters

16AA is currently lead 1 Platoon HQ which is headed up by a Platoon Officer (Lieutenant) who is assisted by a Platoon Sergeant. HQ is supported by a Forward Air Controller, providing communications with 1 Flight for CAS, CASEVAC and RESUPPLY, and a Platoon Medic who is on hand to deal with any casualties sustained in the field.

A Company

1 Platoon

Main Article: 1 Platoon

The principle fighting force of 16AA is A Company, 1 Platoon. 1 Platoon is comprised of three full rifle sections - each section being comprised of eight members or more. Each section is lead by a Corporal (as the section commander), who is in turn supported by a Lance Corporal (as second-in-command). The remaining slots in each section are filled with six or more riflemen (privates). Each section is split into two four-man fire teams, referred to as Charlie and Delta - each one led by the Corporal and Lance Corporal respectively.

2 Platoon

Main Article: 2 Platoon

The principle fighting force of 16AA is A Company, 2 Platoon. 2 Platoon is comprised of three full rifle sections - each section being comprised of eight members or more. 16 Close Support Medical Squadron

656 Squadron

Main Article: 656 Squadron

In addition to its ground elements, 16AA also has a flight section - 656 Squadron 1 Flight. 1 Flight is comprised of 4 or more pilots and is primarily concerned with rotary wing flight duty. A Flight Lieutenant who is in turn supported by a Flying Officer leads the Flight Section. The remaining members of 1 Flight are designated Pilot Officers. 1 Flight is currently able to deploy the: Griffin, Lynx, Merlin and Chinook helicopters in the air assault, CASEVAC and heavy lift (resupply) roles. In addition, 1 Flight is occasionally called upon to provide fixed wing fire support.
